Just the other day I STOPPED. I LITERALLY stopped and took a moment for MYSELF.
Yes ME. You know that lady staring back at you with red eyes, 3rd day dry shampoo hair, a flabby tummy and yellow rings under her eyes (a story for another day)…
She doesn’t look like me BUT yep, that’s still ME.
Before becoming a Mom going to the gym, curling your hair and just generally sleeping was easy…
Become a Mom and all that CHANGE. We change. We have to because we have to constantly be there for a tiny little human who wants, no depends on us for EVERYTHING all the time (talking about baby not hubby)
It’s easy to lose your identity… to be like who the hell was I before this little bundle of joy???
It’s great always putting yourself 2nd… but the problem is this:
“I bought the rice, the rice of motherhood, but for a few years, I wasn’t cooking it properly. I was feeding my children uncooked, stale grain. I was starving their spirits to death.
I didn’t understand that I am the sustenance for their hearts. I am the rice and I am responsible for cooking myself properly.” –
So, tonight when you are cooking a pot of TASTIC
for your fantastic family –
think about this…
YOU ARE IMPORTANT!
And you need to look after yourself.
How do you do that?
1. DECIDE YOU MATTER
Sorry but no one is going to say: “Hey, you look exhausted… take some time off and focus on yourself today.”
Maybe your mom but that’s beside the point.
Make YOU a priority.
It can be super hard to find a moment or a place to unplug.
I love going to THE SPLAT COMPANY because there Minki can PLAY and I can UNPLUG at the SPLAT CAFE:
With a creamy cappuccino and FREE WI-FI.
Find your happy place and PULL THE PLUG!
3. Nurture your support system
Also known as OTHER MOMS (or YOUR MOM)!
Your mom friends are your lifesaving go-to buddies. Meet up at least once a week!
At THE SPLAT COMPANY you can chat up a storm while qualified child minders are well “minding your child.”
Kiddo is having a ball playing on all the equipment, socialising and being active.
You get to kick back with friends (or your Mom), cappuccino and great cake!
4. MAKE TIME FOR YOU
I know the dreaded Mom-guilt… BUT I always feel like a better Mom when I take Minki to SPLAT.
She can play, learn AND socialise while I have some much needed me time.
I order a cappuccino and read my favourite magazine. Pure bliss!
5. LOVE YOUR BODY!
I know it’s hard.
Eat better, get active and then make peace with the fact that your tummy is a bit flabby and your boobs saggier than before.
Maybe instead of the delicious cheesecake order a salad at SPLAT!
Your body will thank you later!
FYI: I’m not a huge fan of ordering salads but their salad is great!
STUFF MOM’S LOVE AT SPLAT…
Professional child minders looking after your child!
Delicious food and cappuccino (devour it while you keep an eye on kiddo)!
Relaxed atmosphere with FREE Wi-Fi! Yay!
Beautiful changing rooms!
Comfy breastfeeding rooms!
And most importantly….
Although we know that WE are important –
a Mom is MOST HAPPY –
when her BABY is HAPPY.
Don’t you think?
February is the month of LOVE – put YOU first today.
And LOVE YOURSELF (as a Mom)!
