According to make-up artist Scott McMahan:
“Mom’s have the hardest, most important demanding jobs out there. They all deserve to feel great about the way they look without spending a lot of time making it happen.”
But it’s easier said than done.
So,what can you do?
Do you give up on make-up altogether and make peace with the fact that you will never ever again make heads turn on the pavement or worse become a strong contestant for one of those makeover shows, looking worn out and saying you cannot remember the last time you put on lipstick?
Stop. Right. There.
Being a mommy does not mean you have to stop taking care of yourself.
Research shows that happy mommy equals happy baby.
And it’s a fact that if you look good on the outside you will feel wonderful on the inside.
Yes, your life has changed ever so slightly…
So you just need to adjust your make-up routine, ever so slightly.
My 6 Step Make-Up Routine:
NO BABIES WERE HARMED DURING THIS MAKE-UP SESSION.
1.TAKE A B(r)OW
It is believed that next to teeth, the eyebrows are the most important feature on any face.
So it’s definitely worth to go the extra mile. That being said, get your brows wax and tinted at a professional salon.
Brows define your face and the tint gives you an instant facelift (it will look like you’ve had a full night sleep) PLUS it saves time in your daily routine.
IN MY BAG – Maybelline Eyebrow Pencil (dark brown)
Unfortunately we can’t wear a hat and sunnies all day everyday.
We are bombarded with the dangers of the sun and we all know about the damage it causes to our skin.
Therefore invest in a 2 in 1 moisturizer plus SPF – It moisturize, protect and cover imperfections all at once – giving you one less thing to worry about.
IN MY BAG – Photoderm Max from Bioderma
(tinted fluid with very high protection)
Available at selected salons.
3.DID SOMEONE SAY BLUSH?
a Bit of color on the cheeks go a long way.
It will make people wonder – is her baby sleeping through the night already, or maybe she’s just born with it?
Dab it on your cheeks, just a quick sweep, doesn’t matter, just do it!
IN MY BAG – Clinique Powder Blush (I’m wearing Innocent Peach)
4.PLAYING WITH THE BIG CATS
When in doubt and in a hurry opt for the classic cat-eye effect.
There’s a reason this sixty’s inspired trend is still around – it’s timeless, classic and it suits most face types.
It’s a quick sweep of eyeliner, extend and lift at the ends for a cat-eye effect.
IN MY BAG: Estee Lauder Double Wear Liquid Eyeliner
(it’s so worth investing – zero smudge guaranteed!)
5.CRY ME A RIVER
Yes, I know you’re tired, and probably overworked and you want to cry…
but that’s not the (only) reason for waterproof mascara: You will probably rub your eyes a few times during the day and will end up with smudge eyes.
Definitely not the just-out-of-bed sexy smudge look we see in adverts but more of the “I’m mother-tired” or just a lost pandabear look.
So, keep on layering until baby demands your attention!
IN MY BAG – Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara –
look for the pink and green tube
(It won’t run, no matter how hard you run)!
6.READ MY LIPS
Red lipstick is a superpower! a Force to be reckon with!
Need I say more? Put it on and see for yourself.
It changes everything!
IN MY BAG: Revlon Colorburst – Code 135 Provocateur Femme Fatale
THE END RESULT:
Even with these tips you may somedays just look “mumish.”
Embrace your look, get over yourself –
you’ve got the cutest accessory right next to you –
No make-up needed!
IN MY BAG – The cutest little baby girl EVER!
