The debate of outdoor games being better than indoor ones and vice versa is never going to stop.

But here’s what’s important:

Kids should play, whether outdoor or indoor.

Both indoor and outdoor games develop different skills.

It’s your responsibility to make sure that kiddo are exposed to both sides of the world!

BUT…

Imagine there was a place…

a place where tired Mamas can meet and have a much needed break,

even, dare I say, a creamy cappuccino?

A place where kids can run around freely developing various skills,

a safe haven for families to reconnect,

while having a ball of a time.

Sounds too good to be true? Well then you definitely have NOT been to…

The Splat Company!

Physical play is super important because it helps kids work through stress and crankiness.

Without adequate time for active play, your child may become grumpy or tense

(Not to mention possibly obese)!

According to research South African children have the third highest obesity rate in the world!

Lets face it, we are all busy. Whether you’re a working or stay at home mama,

That damn clock is always ticking and you are trying to keep up, juggling all aspects of Motherhood, Work and Life.

But then there’s the dreaded MOM GUILT (Read my blog about it here)!

It goes something like this:

“What if Minki becomes a couch potato? A Techno freak that can’t socialise and only wants to stay indoors all the time? And it’s going to be MY fault because I just wanted to drink my cappuccino and reply to a few WhatsApp’s.”

I’M A SELFISH BAD MOM.

Eish!

Luckily I found SPLAT!

According to research the Benefits of Soft Play Areas are:

Safe environments that are ideal for children to play and let off some steam.

Active play has been proven to help children to develop better physical, social, mental and emotional skills.

Soft play areas are the perfect place for your children to meet new friends and get used to socialising with others practicing their communication skills.

Soft play centres are designed specifically for children and therefore, parents don’t have to worry about how much noise children make!

Those days when it’s raining, or it’s just too hot outside (Yes, we live in Nelspruit)!

Then SPLAT is your saving grace!

No more sunburn and UV Rays!

Me and Minki are regular visitors!

Why?

Minki loves playing with all the new toys, I’m chatting to some mom-friends, Minki’s laughing and socialising. She’s happy. I’m happy. ???? Oh and did I mention the free Wi-Fi?

= NO MORE MOM GUILT + a Happy Active Child!

A Few of Minki’s fave things:

The Ballpit:

Lots of FUN but did you know?

It can play a key role in the development of babies who are capable of sitting up unaided, watched by Mom and Dad (or the friendly staff), of course!

• The balls massage the entire body, provide support, deep pressure sensation and encourage relaxation.

• It nurtures social interaction skills.

• It’s great for developing gross motor skills, such as crawling, rolling and jumping around the ball pool!

Fantasy Play Areas:

Pretending, or imaginative play, is one of the cornerstones of a young child’s world.

Anything can spur your child’s imagination. SPLAT has something for even the wildest imagination.

Doll houses, kitchen sets, police uniforms, the list goes on.

Perfect to explore and go from Police Officer to Superman in seconds!

“Mmm… What will I be next?”

Lots of Climbing Apparatus:

Look at them go!

Climb up the net like Spiderman, slide down one of the 3 big slides, manoeuvre through hanging balls like a gladiator.

Muscle Strength, Endurance and Balance to name just a few!

Lets Get Social:

As toddlers, children play side by side without obvious communication –

(This is called parallel play, sorry the teacher in me is coming out again)!

During the preschool years, they start to interact with each other by creating complex story lines together.

Simply put: Play promotes social skills.

But the thing I love most about SPLAT is the Knowledge that I’m giving my baby a Lifelong Gift:
